The event, held on 11-12 February 2025 at Amare, marks the conclusion of a two-year collaboration aimed at integrating placemaking into governance and city planning.
The participating cities

The initiative highlights the importance of community engagement, balancing physical design with social activities, and ensuring long-term sustainability in placemaking efforts.
About the event
City leaders and policymakers will engage in discussions on the systemic adoption of placemaking strategies. Sessions will cover governance reforms, inclusive urban planning, and the role of city-to-city collaboration in addressing challenges such as social divides and declining public trust. The event will also feature site visits showcasing The Hague’s local placemaking initiatives and discussions on best practices.
The Hague as a host

The event is organised by Placemaking Europe in collaboration with municipal representatives and international partners. By examining the role of public spaces in fostering equity and resilience, the gathering aims to contribute to a broader conversation on the future of European cities.
