In 2026, The Hague will welcome a new educational centre dedicated to the European Union: the Europa Experience. This free-to-visit venue, located on Grote Marktstraat, will open its doors in mid-2026 as a project jointly developed and managed by the European Parliament and the European Commission.
Explore the European Union in The Hague
The Europa Experience will give visitors the chance to explore how the European Union works — through a mix of multimedia and interactive exhibits, including a 360° cinema and immersive displays. Similar centres already exist in 16 cities across Europe.
“The European Union is important to The Hague — and with 29 European organisations based here, The Hague is equally important to the European Union. The Europa Experience will be a valuable addition to our educational landscape, particularly in the areas of democracy and the international rule of law.”
The city of Peace and Justice
The Europa Experience will complement The Hague’s existing educational institutions, such as ProDemos, the Binnenhof, the Peace Palace, The Hague University of Applied Sciences, and Leiden University’s The Hague campus.
The EU’s choice of The Hague as the location for one of its Europa Experience centres reinforces the city’s profile as an international centre for peace and justice, offering all who visit a new perspective on European democracy.
