Go Potty, a Dutch start-up based in The Hague and founded to transform potty training, has successfully secured a pre-seed investment of €350.000. The company aims to challenge the global diaper industry by helping children transition out of diapers earlier, benefiting both families and the environment.

Potty training via an app

Go Potty (‘De Pot Op’ in Dutch) is the app that aims to assist parents and childcare organisations in making potty training an engaging and effective process. The technology provides personalised schedules, motivational tips, and insightful data to support children in developing toilet independence.

This initiative offers multiple advantages. Environmentally, it reduces waste from disposable diapers, which contribute significantly to landfill pollution. Financially, it lightens the burden on parents who spend substantial amounts on diapers. Health-wise, it helps children develop better bladder control and hygiene habits earlier.

Comfort and absorbency keep children in diapers

Over the decades, the age at which children become potty trained has steadily increased. In the 1940s, most children were toilet-trained by the age of one. Today, that average has risen to three years. And the primary reason for that is the convenience of disposable diapers. With advancements in absorbency and comfort, these diapers have made the transition to potty training less urgent for both children and parents.

Diaper industry

Of course, the diaper industry is beneficiating of great sales, as it’s currently worth more than $57 billion. However, Go Potty wants to make a change.

Elianne Leeffers, CEO & founder Go Potty. “We want to show that things can and should be done differently. With our approach, children are potty trained 6 to 12 months earlier than average. This investment enables us to further develop and scale up our technology. This way we can reach even more parents and organisations.”

YoV Capital

The investment is offered by the YoV Capital, funded by entrepreneurs and angel investors. And besides their involvement considering the financial support, they also offer the chance to access valuable expertise and a broad network, all these to help Go Potty grow its ambitions and scale up further.

Renske de Bruine of YoV Capital. “We are extremely proud to invest in Go Potty. With this step, we not only support female entrepreneurship, but we also believe in the positive impact that Go Potty has. By potty training children earlier, they contribute to the child's development and to a more sustainable world. This combination of social and ecological benefits makes this a company that we fully support.”
