The Hague Academy for International Law Winter Course (6–24 January 2025)
The Winter Courses, launched in 2019, are a three-week programme on public and private international law, modelled after the Academy’s renowned Summer Courses. Designed for those with prior knowledge, they include a General Course, Special Courses, and guest lectures by leading experts. Taught in English or French, the courses attract participants from over 100 nationalities, many of whom become leaders in international law. Lectures are published in the prestigious Collected Courses series, now comprising with over 410 volumes.
KUNO Winter Course (21–22 January 2025)
A two-day introduction to humanitarian aid at The Hague Humanity Hub. This course combines practical knowledge, debates, and workshops for humanitarian professionals. Speakers include Thea Hilhorst, Paul van den Berg, Rolf Wijnstra, Pia Zeinoun, Henrieke Hommes and Expertise Centre Humanitarian Communication.

The 57th annual THIMUN Conference The Hague Conference (27–31 January): The Hague International Model United Nations is one of the world's largest and most prestigious Model United Nations events, held annually at the World Forum Convention Centre. This four-day simulation of the United Nations brings together over 3000 secondary school students from more than 200 different schools in 100 different countries around the world. Participants engage in debates, draft resolutions, and collaborate on tackling real-world issues such as climate change, human rights, and global security. The conference fosters diplomatic skills, cultural understanding, and leadership in young minds, promoting the values of international cooperation. This year’s theme, "Impact of AI on Humanity," explores the intersection of technology and global challenges. THIMUN is an integral part of The Hague’s identity as the International City of Peace and Justice. The mayor of The Hague, Jan van Zanen, will be present at the official opening of the 57th edition of THIMUN on 28 January at 16.00.
The municipality of The Hague supports various educational initiatives within its ecosystem of international organisations and knowledge institutions, recognizing the transformative power of learning for peace and justice. This aligns with UNESCO’s 2023 recommendations, framing education as a vital tool for promoting human rights, fundamental freedoms, and sustainable development.

United Nations The Hague Immersion Programme
The next edition of the UN Immersion Programme to the Hague, Netherlands will offer participants the chance to fully immerse themselves into the city of peace and justice and thereby gain first-hand experience of the United Nations there. UNITAR will host most of the activities in the historic Peace Palace in The Hague, the home of the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
THIMUN The Hague
The THIMUN (The Hague International Model United Nations) conference is a four day simulation of the United Nations for secondary school students, which takes place at the end of January each year in the World Forum Convention Center in The Hague. THIMUN now attracts over 3,200 students and teachers from around 200 schools located in countries as far apart as Norway, Australia, China and Ecuador. The students themselves originate from more than 100 different countries.
The Hague Academy of International Law - courses
Since 1923, thousands of students and young professionals have been able to attend the Academy's famous annual Summer Courses on Public and Private International Law. As of January 2019, an annual session of Winter Courses has been added.
